Most of us computer users, prefer to stream and watch movies or listen to audio on our devices, rather than buying Audio CDs or Video DVDs and Blu-Rays. Why? The simple answer is convenience. Streaming content is available to us at home, work, and anywhere you travel, and want to watch your favorite tv show or a movie.
But the downside is that downloading movies eats up a lot of storage, and you can’t keep buying more and more external hard drives, they are too expensive. Also cloud storage services cost a lot to subscribe to. And the fact that you need to upload the videos and then download them each time you want to watch it, is just far too much of a hassle. I don’t need to tell you about the internet data bandwidth which this consumes.
Likewise streaming media cannot be replayed whenever you want to, say for example, when you don’t have a working network connection.
A better option, and more inexpensive option, is to in fact save your videos into DVDs. So in case you run out of space on your hard disk, and you wish to free up space, you can delete the files you have saved on your DVDs. And of course having the most important files at the ready on a local disc is much safer than a cloud storage service which can shut down anytime or be hacked.
What software do you use for this? A good video to DVD converter which we can heartily recommend is VSO ConvertXtoDVD. Here’s why.
The program allows you to convert videos, and burn them on to a DVD disc, which you can then play any DVD player that you have. This is important because not every format is playable on a DVD player, and not every disc type is actually readable on a device. For example you will need a PAL disc format if you have a player from Europe, Asia, while in the U.S, the NTSC is the supported disc format. VSO ConvertXtoDVD supports both disc formats, so you don’t have to worry about which format to use.
Coming to the interface, VSO ConvertXtoDVD has a simple non-complex design, in other words the GUI is very user friendly, which is what everyone likes in any software.
The GUI is divided into three parts, a menubar and toolbar, a left pane and a right pane. The toolbar can be used to start a new project i.e., you can add videos from a folder, a disc or from an ISO image. Or you could also drag and drop video files to the program’s window. This file menu can also be used for adding a stream, to merge files to a titleset, remove the title, and for batch converting videos too.
The Edit menu is useful for modifying the contents of the titleset such as the audio, subtitles, chapters, image settings, output, and for cutting or merging files to it. The Convert option is useful for changing the file format from a regular video to one that can be played on your DVD player. And you can also select the process priority, i.e., the resources which your computer should use for the conversion process. You can also use this menu to directly burn a project which you have already converted.
Now that you know how to add a video to the program, let us see how to convert the added media. The left pane is where you can see which DVD and Menu options you have selected (NTSC or PAL), along with the framerate in fps, the progect name, the menu template selected, and a thumbnail of the menu.
Below this, is the actual list of videos which will be converted for the project. The right pane will change to a video player, when you select a video from the list on the left pane. Speaking of which, you can see the name of the video, the duration it will run for, the audio track, subtitle, next to each video.
Use the right pane to play and stop the video in the preview mode. If you wish to edit the video, uou can use the toolbar on the bottom, to change or add a new audio track, edit and add subtitles, chapters, adjust the saturation, brightness, contrast, rotatet the picture, add post-processing effects to the image, or add a watermark to the video.
The fit editor allows you to choose a proper scaling method, aspect ratio, and also lets you choose the video’s resolution size such as 720p HD, 1080p Full hD etc. You can also crop or add padding the video. The cutting tool is useful for trimming the video, and you can use markers to highlight the start and end position of the bookmark,. The merge tool can be used to combine two videos into a single one.Want to make new menus for your discs? Hit the menu options, and work away. It has a some preset templates which you can use.
When you are done editing the video, it is time to select the Convert button below the left pane. Doing so will convert the video into the selected disc format and settings. There are no complex menus and other options you have to select for converting a video.
Let’s say for example you want to add a set of videos to be converted into a DVD disc, but you don’t want to edit the videos, simply add the videos to the VSO ConvertXtoDVD window, and hit the convert button. That’s all there is to it?
See how quick and user friendly it is? One-click does the job. You can then save the project to your PC, or USB device, or burn it to a DVD, or save it as ISO image.
